Tired Love
Love has a way of showing up in ways and shapes we least expect it in.
Sometimes love comes late in life, tired with a few wrinkles and a lock of white hair.
Not all love comes in Korean skin and flowing Rapunzel hair.
Love doesn’t always run and come with passion and restlessness.
Sometimes it comes slowly, gently and sits by you, kissing your hand and asks, “Will you accept me?”
It whispers, “I am tired, will you walk with me?”
Love like everything else comes in different phases and seasons.
This love has walked many seasons.
It has been heartbroken.
It has been through the wear and tear of life.
It has learned many wise lessons.
Many a dark nights, it has struggled to breath.
Love like everything else comes in different phases and seasons.
But it arrives, sits next to you.
It is tired- but not bitter.
Love always hopes.
It never hurts.
It sits next to you and smiles, and as you order food and you ask love’s preference.
Love says, “Eating food is a shared experience.”
“Let’s eat the same food.”
As you eat, this time love feeds you as you are busy talking.
Love can come late and tired with wrinkles, but it won’t keep you hungry.
Love fulfills.
As you walk into the Unisex washroom to clean your face,
Love gently holds your purse in one hand, and holds your falling hair with the other.
As you splash water over your face.
Love doesn’t let you fall.
Love holds what falls.
This time as love drives, love talks about investments and retirement planning after 20 years.
Love talks of safety, as it holds your hands.
Love is safe.
And on a night out as you lie next to love,
Love gives its arms for you to sleep.
Both of you fall fast asleep,
Because you both have early morning meetings to attend.
And suddenly in the middle of the night, a little light pierces through the window.
You turn and look at love in deep sleep.
Breathe falling and rising.
Love is deep asleep after 12 hours of work and 4 client meetings.
You look at love that is fast asleep.
Love is tired, but safe.
This love is a little old, but here to stay.
If my work has made an impact on you, you can buy me a coffee here. This will help me to keep writing and healing more. Thank you.
